Longest run ever
I have been running off and on for over thirty years. Although, it’s only been in the last four years that I have seriously trained and entered races.
My first race was an untimed 5K. It was a good introduction to the thrill of racing. It also taught me to pace myself, because I darn near passed out when I crossed the finish line.
My second race was a 10K. And I have to credit my brother, Sibling Rob, for getting me over the finish line. To the serious deteriment of his own race time, he ran right alongside me, cheering me on right to end.
The next year, I ran the 10K on my own, while Sibling Rob roared ahead. I set a time goal for myself and beat it by three minutes. Which also knocked a full five minutes off the previous 10K.
And 10K is the farthest distance I have run in my life.
Until Sunday.
I ran 7 miles, which is just over 11.25 Kilometers!
And I wasn’t winded, nor were my legs complaining … much.
A half-marathon is 13.1 miles, or 21 kilometers. So, I’m over half-way there in what I know I can run.
I am a running machine!
Or as Only Son said to me “a machine of marathonic beastly proportions”.
This race is looking very doable.

I’m very impressed. I don’t run unless I’m being chased (by something that I don’t think I could actually fight off - gotta make that clear!).
Inspired by you, I’m now tracking: I’m up to 20 push-ups, 50 sit-ups and I’ve done 9.5 km in the pool since Jan 1.
Thanks for posting!

Army Wife - I like tracking. It keeps me motivated. Even when I slip back, I feel even better when I’m back on track and surpassing my previous stats. Awesome sit-up stats! And as I’ve said before, I admire anyone who swims. I just bob.
Lion - ya ya, but then I showered and you were uber impressed with my trim athletic body.

Panther,
Rock solid arm muscles are apparently not in my genes. Legs, yes. Put me on a treadmill and I’m a happy camper with taut legs. Arms, even when muscular, stay annoyingly squishy. Good for you!
Until later,
Kelly

Wow I am impressed…my husband is training for the 204 Seattle to Portland bike ride (he does 1 day) in July and he is running a great deal to get ready. He will do a 1/2 marathon next month.
I am back to walking 4 miles every morning and swimming a mile 1 time a week. I hope to be back to the push ups and sit ups soon.
2.5 days of pain freedom - finally and I am down 7 of the 18 pounds I gained with the inflammation problems with this muscle tear. I finally feel on the road to recovery - what a long haul, and it looks like Fit to Blog is not there any more?
I am very proud of you…you gorgeous Business Architect!
Thank you for your inspiring post.

Way cool!
The furthest I ever ran was 12 miles, but that was 13 or 14 years ago — almost in another life. I’ll be back to running, hopefully sometime later this year!
Keep going! Stay strong!

Mike - 12 miles! That’s almost a half marathon. It will be fun to compare notes once you are back into running.

I am just walking for now, until I get my good timely back in shape, the swimming makes the abdomenal area burn and the small of my back feel exhausted. I am going to write about going to the medical intuitive soon on my site, but I am still sorting it out and now 3 days of no pain after months is truly a celebration, but I don’t want to ever have this again - ever.

I actually did a little bit of running today at the gym - several laps around the indoor track — after an hour 0n the stairmaster at level 6! It felt good to run! — even though my endurance isn’t to the point I want it to be.
(I did walk quit a lot more laps on the indoor track, too. The track is a second floor oval around the top of a regulation sized basketball court.)

I have never measured my distance, and only started running a few months ago, so to how an idea how long does it take you to run 5k?
